BTG launches new advanced fiber analyzer

BTG Pulp and Paper Sensors has acquired the global rights to sell and market the MorfiTrac fiber analyzer from French company Techpap, a subsidiary of France’s Centre Technique du Papier and leading developer of measurement equipment for the pulp and paper industry.
Featuring advanced fibrillation capabilities, the MorfiTrac unit is able to take samples from eight sequential measuring points, progressively analyzing properties such as fiber length, curl, kinks, coarseness and shives, and classifying fibers into different classes.
“Fiber properties are what determine paper quality, and our business is fiber,” says Bertil Olsson of BTG Pulp and Paper Sensors. “That’s why it made great sense for us to complete our range of measuring equipment with this new analyzer. Thanks to Techpap’s technology, we can now measure every single fiber variable – length, width, consistency, charge, brightness and more.”
BTG’s decision to market the Techpap solution followed a rigorous evaluation of products from a number of fiber analysis instrumentation vendors. “This unit has the best fit with our range,” notes Olsson. “Accurately measuring fiber parameters is no easy task, but the Techpap instrument consistently delivers top performance and provides all the functionality our customers need.”
Boosting productivity
Complementing BTG’s overall analysis portfolio, the MorfiTrac analyzer is a perfect fit with the company’s broad range of high-tech instruments and extensive process expertise.

The MorfiTrac’s advanced analysis system means fiber properties can now be measured in a consistent way along the entire value chain, from forest to pulp mill to paper mill to end user.

Now people can make fiber specifications that everyone can understand and agree on. This will translate into huge benefits for the industry, especially as quality demands continue to increase.”
As well as ensuring everyone’s on the same wavelength when it comes to fiber parameters, BTG’s new MorfiTrac analyzer will improve mill processes through enhanced measurement and control, helping mills better meet end-product specifications. More accurate fiber analysis will also help stabilize the production process, making it more predictable and allowing for the production of paper with predefined properties.
BTG’s new MorfiTrac fiber analyzer is now available through BTG offices worldwide. The unit will also be on show on BTG’s stand at the upcoming Zellchem exhibition, which will take place in Wiesbad, Germany in June.
