Solve the problem of edge deposits
A new BTG Service Package helps tissue makers keep Yankee edges clean, for consistent quality output and fewer production headaches.
Edge contamination – usually visible as whitish ‘belts’ around the Yankee edges – is a relatively common problem for tissue makers which can compromise paper quality and negatively impact production efficiency.
Manufacturers using high-performance long-life blades like BTG’s Duroblade® sometimes report that edge deposit problems are exacerbated because dramatically reduced blade change frequency means deposits tend to thicken and harden during long blade operation times. That in turn can increase the risk of tears in the paper edges.
Edge deposits can also lead to vibrations in the creping and cleaning blades at the Yankee bare edges. That could create chattermarks that begin in the deposit rings, then successively spread out, sometimes to the full width of the Yankee dryer.

What causes deposits?
Edge build-up is caused by the deposition of fibers, fines, fillers and other dissolved components – hemicellulose, wet strength agent, softener – from the head box.
Edge spray chemicals and hard water are another common cause.
