BTG announces the new-generation Mütek™ DFR-05 Drainage Freeness Retention
Fast, reliable and highly accurate measurement of key process variables helps improve lab efficiency and cut chemical and energy costs.
BTG is proud to announce the next-generation version of its Mütek™ DFR-05 Drainage Freeness Retention, a highly advanced laboratory instrument that automatically measures these three key process variables.
By simulating conditions prevailing in a paper machine immediately before and during sheet forming, the DFR-05 enables systematic and precise assessment of chemical influences. The new model lifts measuring technology to a whole new level, delivering fast, accurate results to meet the most demanding customer requirements.
The DFR-05 is available in two different models – a precision lab version designed for chemical suppliers, and a robust, industrial-grade version for mill lab measurements.
Your reliable partner for lab measurement
Part of BTG’s new range of easier, smaller, smarter, lighter instruments, the DFR-05 is every chemical supplier’s indispensable partner for retention aid trials, delivering the industry’s only direct ash and consistency lab measurement. The DFR-05 has a dosing module, automatically separates the pre-filtrate, and maintains identical shear conditions for retention and drainage. Used in conjunction with the optional RET-20 Lab sensor, it accurately and conveniently replaces time-consuming Britt Jar measurements.

BTG also offers a new DFR-05 version for automatically measuring freeness and headbox dewatering at the mill.
With freeness measurement now often an essential part of daily mill operations, and measuring dewatering of headbox samples becoming increasingly important, this new DFR-05 is the perfect instrument for the job. Using shear force technology, the new model accurately simulates paper machine dewatering conditions, making it an indispensable tool for all mill drainage applications. Major advantages include: delivery of fast, direct and user-independent results; tracking of dewatering speed changes; display of °SR or CSF values; and the generation of a dewatering curve chart. Based on state-of-the-art technology, the unit incorporates temperature compensation, offers a consistency correction table, and is upgradeable to support automatic dosing and retention measurement.
