BTG, Honeywell announce ‘Profit for Pulping’ solutions
BTG and Honeywell are collaborating on a cutting-edge range of process control solutions that harness the very latest hardware and software advances.
Headquartered in New Jersey, USA, Honeywell is a Fortune 500 company and a global leader in Automation and Control Solutions.
The company’s ACS division specializes in the application of sensing and control technologies to help create safer, more secure, and more productive manufacturing environments.
BTG customers will soon be able to benefit from a new range of highly advanced Profit for Pulping solutions that combine BTG’s world-renowned process control instruments with Honeywell’s advanced software applications for optimizing pulping operations.
A collaborative agreement signed between the two companies in October 2009 will see Honeywell’s Profit Controller® suite of applications integrated with BTG’s complete line of high-performance sensors and analyzers. Pulp producers will be able to take advantage of the power and flexibility of Honeywell’s Experion® Process Knowledge System or another third party distributed control system, with the Honeywell Profit Controller serving as the control engine.
New jointly-developed Profit for Pulping solutions will include batch and continuous cooking; thermo mechanical pulping; and bleaching. Benefits include:
- better pulp consistency for improved quality
- increased energy efficiency and environmental performance
- optimized chemical, energy and fiber usage, for significant cost savings
The performance of BTG sensors and analyzers, which measure factors like consistency, kappa number, brightness, residual, fibre morphology and freeness in order to optimize process conditions, will be even further enhanced by the addition of Honeywell’s advanced software technology.
“BTG instruments are designed to provide the highest return on investment to meet customers’ most pressing requirements, such as energy conservation and raw material costs,” said Brian Pahl, BTG President and CEO. “We’re delighted that our customers will now enjoy the most accurate process measurement combined with the proven benefits of Honeywell’s Pulping APC solutions. It’s a collaborative effort that will pay off for our customers immediately.”
